Argan Summer Balm Recipe May 29 2013
One downside to the summer heat is its melting effect on balms and salves. Using just four ingredients, you'll be able to make an all-natural salve that will better withstand heat. This highly nourishing summer balm soothes lips and sunburned skin, and softens cuticles and rough, dry skin.
What you'll need:
- 1/2 ounce Argan Oil
- 1/2 ounce Jojoba Oil
- 1 ounce Sweet Almond Oil
- 1 ounce beeswax grated or cut in small pieces (beeswax pastilles will also work)
- 4 ounce wide-mouth glass jar with lid
Warm a pot of water (filled 4 inches high) over low to medium heat. Fill a heat proof measuring cup with Argan Oil, Jojoba Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, and beeswax. Place the measuring cup in the pot of heated water and warm until the beeswax has thoroughly melted into the oil. Stir well with a chopstick or spoon to ensure the ingredients are properly mixed. Pour blend into the jar. Allow a few hours to cool and solidify before using.
